FIGHT TRAINING FOR THEATRE
PROFESSIONAL TRAINING SESSIONS IN STAGE VIOLENCE
Conflict & Combat is an ongoing series of intensives focused on training student and professional actors in the techniques of theatrical violence. This will provide a safe environment for both veterans and beginners to explore existing skills and learn new ones. Each intensive includes one masterclass and three workshops centered on a particular concept, taught by professional fight choreographers from the Boston area and beyond. The masterclass introduces techniques and concepts in a structured curriculum while the workshops allow students to practice those techniques with the help of other professionals, deepening their understanding through exploration and repetition. Come to learn and improve an invaluable skill!
June 2018: Unarmed Intensive
Sundays 11a-1p | 275 E Cottage Ave, Dorchester
Most moments of violence in Theatre do not involve swords, or knives – they are slaps, punches, and grabs. In the Unarmed Intensive students will learn and practice the most fundamental techniques of stage combat, from punches and slaps, to grabs and falls. The Masterclass, taught by veteran Fight Director and Teacher Ted Hewlett, will give students of any skill level the opportunity to explore these techniques through choreography, while the workshops allow students a safe environment to hone their skills and deepen their understanding of these concepts.
