In a world of magical realism and rising water, two sisters are reunited at their family home. Mira, the caretaker sister, had to weather her mother’s death alone, and holds every childhood slight so close that she is literally burning from the inside out, shedding ashes and embers, as her wife, Amanda attempts to soothe her. Sister Deedee has returned to bring her fiancee, Pike, to safety, even as her memory is vanishing faster and faster. In this slowly drowning world, everyone is searching for higher ground. The sisters battle to the end, one unable to forget, the other unable to remember. Mox Nox is a play of lyrical magic and visual surprise, with characters who desperately need love and dry land.

Mox Nox runs approximately 90 minutes without an intermission. Outdoor performances will begin at 8:30pm. Indoor performances will be gin at 7:30pm. Performances lat outdoor venues are free and open to all audiences; no tickets are needed. Lawn seating, blankets, and lawn chairs welcome. Debbie Aboaba (Deedee)

Debbie Aboaba is thrilled to be working with Brown Box for the first time! She is currently a student at Boston College, double majoring in Communications and Theater. Previous stage credits include The Moors (Entropy Theater), The Three Musketeers (Front Porch Arts Collective), and Significant Other (Boston College). She is grateful that she gets the chance to help tell this story and can not wait for audiences to see what we’ve created.

Rachel Tondreault (Mira)

Rachel Tondreault is a Rhode Island based actor making her Brown Box Theatre in Mox Nox. Previous credits include Tanya Crawley in Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem, the title character in The Adventures of Lulu’s Lemonade Stand (Cape Rep Theatre), Oliver in The Tribute Artist, Senga in Dancing Lessons (2nd Story Theatre), and most recently as Jenny in The Wilbury Theatre’s production of You Got Older by playwright Clare Barron. Rachel is also an original company member of the non-profit organization COAAST (Creating Outreach About Addiction Support Together), a theatre troupe that uses the platform of storytelling to bring awareness to the opioid epidemic.

Cam Torres (Pike)

Cam Torres (Pike) is thrilled to be back with Brown Box Theatre Project! He was seen last year as Belarius in Brown Box Theatre Project’s touring production of Cymbeline. Regional credits include Cape Rep Theater (Jerusalem), Bay Colony Shakespeare Company (Winter’s Tale/Midsummer Nights Dream), Salem Theater Company (Angels in America), and Epic Theater in the premier run of James Franco and Me, as James Franco. He would like to thank his family and Ashley for constant love and never ending support.

Susannah Wilson (Amanda)

Susannah Wilson is a NY-based actor, thrilled to return to Boston to work with Patrick Gabridge and the Brown Box team on this project that has long been in development. Regional credits include: This is Not SITI Company (The Tank NYC); Richard III, Macbeth (Commonwealth Shakespeare Co); Twelfth Night (Verdi Square Arts Festival); Nurse Play (Exiled Theatre); Julius Caesar (Praxis Stage); Both/And: A Quantum Physics Play (Catalyst Collaborative with MIT); A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet (Boston Theatre Co); Once a Blue Moon, Shahrazad (Double Edge Theatre); and the titular role in Richard III (Emerson Stage). Susannah received her BA in acting from Emerson College and spent the last year training with SITI Company as one of their 14 Conservatory Artists.

Kyler Taustin – DIRECTOR

Kyler Taustin (Director): Kyler is the co-founder of Brown Box Theatre Project and has served as the Executive Artistic Director since its founding. Originally hailing from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Kyler has first hand knowledge of challenges faced by those living in areas where cultural opportunities are limited and distance is a barrier to access of the arts. Kyler received his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts and soon thereafter founded Brown Box Theatre Project to return home to invigorate a culturally vibrant community in his hometown. For Brown Box, Kyler directed all 6 installments of Outdoor Free Shakespeare (Cymbeline, The Taming of the Shrew, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and Twelfth Night). Contemporary productions Kyler directed include Brilliant Traces, Lab Rats, Echoes, Two Wrongs, The Nina Variations, Some Explicit Polaroids, and Two Rooms. As part of the Boxer Shorts series, Kyler directed Capricho, Play, and Talk to Me Like the Rain. Kyler was the co-director for both devised bi-lingual collaborations with Brown Box’s Mexican sister company Ícaro Compañia Teatral (When We Lived Together in the Belly of the Whale; No Soy Lo Que Soy). Kyler is honored to lead Brown Box as it strives to serve communities up and down the east coast as it has his home region.

Angela Harrington – PRODUCTION STAGE MANAGER

Angela Harrington (Production Stage Manager): Angela is thrilled to be working with Brown Box for the fourth time! She recently became the Associate Managing Director of Brown Box Theatre Project! Her recent Stage Management credits include Jukebox 2.0, As You Like It (Brown Box Theatre Project), We are Proud to Present…. (Brandeis University), Bare Stage (Boston Center for the Arts), Murder on the Orient Express (The Lyric Stage Company, ASM end of run.) In 2017, she presented her work on Immersive theatre at the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. She would like to thank her family and Will for their support.

Ashley Cabral– PRODUCER

Ashley Cabral (Associate Producer): Ashley is a Behavior Therapist by day, working with children on the Autism Spectrum as well as those with other special needs. She graduated from Rhode Island College in 2013 with a BA in Psychology. Ashley is a lover of theatre, having been involved in a variety of theatrical productions throughout high school and college.

Patrick Gabridge – PLAYWRIGHT

Patrick Gabridge (Playwright): Patrick Gabridge most recently worked with Brown Box on his play Lab Rats. His other plays include Blinders, Drift, Distant Neighbors, Blood on the Snow, and Reading the Mind of God, and dozens of short plays which have been staged in theatres around the world. He co-founded Boston’s Rhombus playwright’s group, the publication Market InSight… for Playwrights, and the on-line Playwrights’ Submission Binge. His plays are published by Playscripts, Brooklyn Publishers, Heuer, Smith & Kraus, Original Works Publishers, and YouthPlays. He’s been a fellow with New Rep and with the Huntington Theatre Company and is the co-founder and coordinator of the New England New Play Alliance. His novels are Steering to Freedom, Moving [a life in boxes], and Tornado Siren. In his spare time, he likes to farm and fix up old houses.

Jenna McFarland Lord – SCENIC DESIGNER

JENNA McFARLAND LORD (Scenic Designer): Jenna is excited to join the Brown Box team for this wonderful show. Chelsea Kerl- Costume Designer

Chelsea Kerl (Costume Designer): Chelsea is pleased to be back with Brown Box for her 10th show, having designed Measure for Measure, As You Like It,Hamlet, Cymbeline, Brilliant Traces, The Taming of the Shrew, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Romeo and Juliet. Chelsea has been freelance designing in the Boston area since receiving her MFA in Costume Design from BU in 2014; she previously attended the University of Maryland. Her work has been seen at the Lyric Stage Company of Boston, Wellesley Repertory Theatre, and Greater Boston Stage Company, among others. Chelsea is the costume shop manager, designer, and professor at Wellesley College, and she is a staff costume technician at ART. www.chelseakerl.com.

Evan Northrup- Magic Consultant

Evan Northrup (Magic Consultant) is a magician and theatrical illusion designer who creates magical experiences that mirror the magic in the world around us. From a start as a street performer, he has spent over 20 years honing his craft to be able to design moments that leave audiences with their assumptions shattered and their curiosity piqued.

Will Sexton-Company Manager/Master Electrician

Will Sexton (Company Manager/Master Electrician): Will is excited to work his second production with Brown Box Theatre Project! Last summer he was the Master Electrician for Brown Box‘s touring Jukebox 2.0 and worked as the Crew Chief/Deck Carpenter at Barrington Stage Company for Into the Woods, Gertrude and Claudius, and the World Premiere of Fall Springs. He’s a senior at Bridgewater State University majoring in Theatre Arts and Business Management. His BSU credits include The Bald Soprano (Scenic Design), Macbeth (Stage Manager), The Skin of Our Teeth (ASM), night, Mother (Lighting Designer), and How to Succeed in Business (Assistant Lighting Design).

Katie Jost

Katie Jost (Sound Designer): Katie is a Boston based sound designer and engineer. This is her fourth production with Brown Box Theater Project and she is wicked excited to be back with this amazing group. Her most recent theater credits include Measure for Measure (Brown Box Theater Project), Mysterious Circumstances (The Geffen Playhouse), and Jukebox Revolution (Brown Box Theater Project). Her recent post-production work includes There Existed An Addiction to Blood (clipping.) The El Duce Tapes, Sea World Sesame Street Interactive Exhibit, Mope, and Trespassers.

Kelly Smith

Kelly Smith (Props Designer) is a multi-hyphenate artist with a new work focus. Directing: Sister Anonymous (Second Act Prod.), Robyn Is Happy (Hub Theatre), In The Forest She Grew Fangs (AKA Theatre), and shorts for OTP, Boston Theatre Marathon, and 1MPF. Props: Greater Good, Vietgone (Company One/A.R.T.), Wit (Hub Theatre), Lab Rats (Brown Box), and with Fresh Ink, Titanic Theatre, Sleeping Weazel, and PF Pictures, among others. Writing: Raining Aluminum (theatreKapow), and with ShotzBoston, StoryClub, and 1MPF. In addition to stage managing all over town, Kelly produced the Irish backroom bar series SOLAS NUA, GROWN UP STORYTIME at Aeronaut Brewery, and founded AKA Theatre.

Joey Guthman- Lighting Designer

Joey Guthman (Lighting Designer): Joey is a lighting designer for theatre, dance, and live entertainment whose work has been seen around the world. Brown Box: Hamlet, Songs for A New World, Cymbeline, Taming of the Shrew, Blue Window, Macbeth. He lives in Los Angeles where he is the Associate Artistic Director and Resident Lighting Designer at The Attic Collective, and an Associate Artist of Rogue Artists Ensemble. His work has also been seen at the Theatre d’Champs Elysee, Adrienne Arsht Center, Kimmel Center, Yerba Buena Center, Getty Villa, Pasadena Playhouse, REDCAT among many others. Emmett Buhmann- Technical Director

Emmett H. Buhmann (Technical Director) is the Lighting Design and Technical Direction Faculty Member for the Bridgewater State University Department of Theatre. Freelance Design: Peerless (Company One), Carrie: The Musical (Un-Common Theater Company), Dancing in the Streets (The City of Somerville, MA), Les Misérables (Ballet Lubbock, Flatlands Dance Theatre, Seattle’s Balagan Theatre). His design work has been seen in Massachusetts, Texas, California, Wyoming, Seattle, New York, and Prague, CZ. Emmett works as a designer and TD for the Arts for Teens program and the Capachione School of the Performing Arts. Emmett holds a BFA from the University of Wyoming and an MFA from the University of California-Irvine.

Cassaundra DiGregorio-Audio Engineer

Cassaundra DiGregorio (Audio Engineer) is thrilled to be returning to Brown Box for the second time as AE. Cassaundra is a graduate of Salem State University. Her recent Assistant Engineer credit includes Measure for Measure (Brown Box Theatre Project). Her most recent FOH/Audio Engineer credit includes Elephant and Piggie’s: We are in a Play! (Wheelock Family Theatre) and Little Women, a Musical (Wheelock Family Theatre). Since graduating in 2018 Cassaundra has been working on cultivating her craft. Cassaundra is continuing her work recording a friend’s EP. She would like to thank her family and friends for their love and support.

Jeremiah Dude- Carpenter

Jeremiah Dude (Carpenter) a professor at Five Towns College and is glad to help create the set for Brown Box Theatre. Jeremiah has built many sets, including Spamalot!, Ghost Train, and Driving Miss Daisy at Barnstormers as their technical director; Measure for Measure for Brown Box Theatre Company; Footloose, Legally Blonde, and Catch Me if You Can at Dean College, and many more. He has taken on stage management, light design, sound design, has done a little acting and dancing, and has an extensive background in circus arts.

Spencer Tew-Scenic Supervisor

Spencer Parli Tew (Scenic Supervisor) is over the moon about working on his fifth Brown Box production. Having recently been appointed the company’s associate tour manager, this is his first outing with them in a non-acting capacity. Spencer received his BFA from Boston University for Theatre Arts in May of 2015. He wishes to thank his wonderful partner and their totally bonkers cat for the unending support they provide.
